Prosecuters in Ocean County won’t file charges after a driver accidentally hit and killed a 2-year-old girl on Christmas Eve.
No charges will be filed against a minivan driver who struck and killed a 2-year-old girl this week while backing out of a driveway at a southern New Jersey home.
Ocean County prosecutors tell the Asbury Park Press that the Christmas Eve accident in Lakewood appears to be a "tremendously tragic accident."
The names of the girl and the driver have not been disclosed.
Prosecutors say the girl, her siblings and their father were walking along Forest Park Circle when the accident occurred around 2:10 p.m. Wednesday. The girl died a short time later at a hospital.
No other injuries were reported in the accident.
