Lena Tillett is an Emmy award-winning anchor and reporter for NBC10 Philadelphia. You can watch her live on weekdays during the 5 p.m. and 7pm newscasts.
Originally from Washington, D.C., Lena joined NBC10 in January 2026. She came to Philadelphia after nearly a decade at WRAL-TV, the NBC affiliate in Raleigh, North Carolina, where she most recently anchored newscasts from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. During her time there, Lena led extensive live coverage, contributed to investigative and enterprise reporting, helped launch new programs, and earned multiple regional and national honors, including Emmy and Edward R. Murrow Awards. In 2022, she was named the North Carolina Association of Broadcasters’ Anchor of the Year.
“I have such fond memories of visiting loved ones in Philadelphia as a child, as well as competing at the Penn Relays in high school and college,” said Tillett. “Although it was a big city, it felt close-knit and intimate. I’m looking forward to learning about the many different neighborhoods.”
Lena earned her Bachelor of Arts in Government and English from Georgetown University. She later pursued a Master of Arts in Journalism (News & Documentary) from New York University in 2013, further strengthening her storytelling and reporting skills.
She is deeply passionate about amplifying the voices of people in the community. Whether covering breaking news, investigations, or major sporting events, Lena believes journalism means meeting people during moments of great achievement and great loss — a responsibility she considers both humbling and a privilege. She also enjoys simplifying complex topics so viewers can better understand and engage with the news.
Outside the newsroom, Lena enjoys spending time with her two toddlers and seeing the world through their eyes. She also loves reading, live music, traveling, exploring neighborhoods, and trying new restaurants. Committed to giving back, Lena is passionate about mentoring young people and has been involved with organizations such as Girls Inc., as well as speaking to students at local schools and universities.
