There's a reason your Nickelodean network channel isn't running anything right now. From now until 1 p.m., Nick has turned off all programming to encourage kids to go out and play! (Yay!)
Yes, the network that would usually love it if your offspring was planted squarely in front of the TV, has decided to turn its programming off. It's part of Nick's "Worldwide Day of Play" and the Lower Bucks YMCA, Bristol Township School District and Silver Lake Nature Center are joining in with free activities today.
Want to join the fun? Get down to the Lower Bucks Family YMCA for family swim, family gym time and relay races until 2 p.m. Every person that participates in the day will receive a free two-week YMCA Membership, which is good for an adult or couple and their children under the age of 18.
If nature's more your style, the Silver Lake Nature Center has a nature scavenger hunt with a prize and free play in the new children’s play area until 1 p.m.
- a NFL punt, pass and kick football skills competition for boys and girls ages 8-15
- an NBA Fit challenge (basketball skills) for boys and girls ages 5-14
- and a softball skills workshop, kite flying, baton twirling, music arts, interactive jump rope demonstrations, parachute games, relay races, yoga for kids, obstacle courses, and free swimming (our heads are spinning at the mere thought of trying to even say that many things ten times fast)
There will also be surprise guests, refreshments, raffles and giveaways.
So what are still doing inside?
