Police Take in Truck's Owner After Woman in Hospice Dies on Her 93rd Birthday

UPDATE: Officials determined Russo died of natural causes and not as a result of the crash. NEW DETAILS HERE

Police spoke to a driver then released him the evening after police said his pickup truck into a Bucks County home Friday — a woman who was laying in a hospice bed died after the wreck.

Jenny Russo was in bed around 2:30 a.m. near the part of the home, located at the corner of Redbrook and Rolling lanes in Levittown, where the pickup truck struck after the driver lost control, police said.

Tire tracks could be seen on the home's lawn.

Russo, who turned 93 Friday, died a few hours after the crash occurred. Her cause of death wasn't immediately clear but her son thinks the crash contributed to his mother's demise.

"How you gonna live with yourself, you probably thought you just did damage to her house, but you probably — I'm not saying you killed her — but you led to my mom's death," said Ron Russo.

Several pieces of the striking vehicle, which officials said is a full-sized red pickup truck, were recovered at the scene.

Around 2:30 p.m. Friday, police confirmed they found the pickup along the 500 block of Bath Street in Bristol, Pennsylvania — that's about 5 miles away from the crash scene.

The truck's owner turned himself into police Friday afternoon and cooperated with investigators allowing them to take toxicology samples.

Police released the man Friday night. the District Attorney's Office isn't expected to announce any possible charges in the case until next week.
