A Ukrainian hockey coach charged with fondling a teen player in Philadelphia will remain in custody after waiving his right to bail.
Ivan Pravilov, a mentor to several NHL and college players, is also accused of threatening a teen witness.
A public defender did not comment Tuesday on why Pravilov is no longer seeking bail. But the coach is wanted on an Interpol warrant for a 2007 assault in the Ukraine.
The 48-year-old Pravilov ran an elite hockey school in the Ukraine before moving to the U.S. in 2007 to run camps and clinics.
Federal prosecutors say he fondled a 14-year-old Ukrainian player at his Philadelphia apartment on Jan. 3, and later threatened another visiting player who witnessed it.
Pravilov has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
