Former Flyer Peter Zezel who twice helped the Fly Guys to the Stanley Cup Finals died from a rare blood disease in his hometown of Toronto Tuesday. He was 44 years old.
Zezel burst onto the scene for the Flyers as a rookie in 1984-85. The center set a Flyers' rookie record with 46 assists as the team went all the way to the Finals.
He was traded by the Flyers to St. Louis in November 1988.
Zezel scored 91 goals during his time with the Flyers.
He also played for Washington, Toronto, Dallas, New Jersey and Vancouver. In 873 career games over 15 seasons he put up 219 goals, 389 assists and 608 points.
