State transportation officials have a message for anyone who put a campaign sign in Delaware -- remove it or pay up.
Officials say the clock is ticking for campaigns and political parties to remove their campaign sides from along state roads.
The Department of Transportation says state law requires that all election signs located in the right of way be removed by Dec 6.
Starting next Friday, each sign in the state-owned right of way is subject to removal, and candidates can be fined $25 per sign. There is an additional $15 fee to have the sign returned.
State law allows campaign signs to be placed in certain areas of the state-owned right of way 30 days before and 30 days after an election. No other signs are permitted in the right of way at any time.
