Congressman Mike Johnson elected as House Speaker

The House of Representatives has a new speaker more than 3 weeks after Kevin McCarthy was ousted. It took Republicans who control the chamber multiple tries to find someone who could receive enough votes. Speaker Mike Johnson took the gavel this afternoon.
