Commerce Secretary Ross ‘Open to Resuming' Talks on Trade Deal With Europe

President Donald Trump signed three executive Monday, which included formally withdrawing the United states from the 12-nation Trans-Pacific Partnership. He called the move “a great thing for American workers.”

Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross told CNBC on Tuesday he is open to continuing talks on a proposed trade pact with the European Union.

Ross said that while the U.S. has withdrawn from the Trans-Pacific Partnership pact with Pacific Rim nations, or TPP, “we did not withdraw from TTIP.”

Talks around the proposed Trans-Atlantic Trade and Investment Partnership were put on hold following President Donald Trump's election last year.

Ross’ comments come after a series of tweets from Trump directed toward Germany over trade.
