Trump Likens Self to ‘Wartime President' in Fight Against Coronavirus

President Donald Trump likened the fight against the coronavirus to waging a war during a Coronavirus Task Force press conference on Wednesday. The task force provided updates on the pandemic response efforts, including the president’s invocation of the Defense Production Act to address the shortage of medical supplies as well as the closure of the Canadian and Mexican borders. The president also discussed racist attacks against Asian Americans while defending his use of the phrase “Chinese virus.”
