Rowlett Man's Facebook Video Goes Viral

Less than a week after a father-daughter video went viral, we followed the Culpepper’s to church for insight into how this family is handling their fame.

A Rowlett, Texas, father's video that shows his young daughter giving him encouragement while he does her hair, originally posted on YouTube, has gone viral on Facebook.

Derrick Culpepper says he posted the video showing him doing his daughter Linda's hair before school on YouTube about 10 months ago.

The video shows Culpepper's daughter, who was 3 years old at the time, giving him tips and pointers along the way.

"You brush it, then you put a band on it," she says.

She even encourages him as he does her hair.

"You're getting it down, you're almost done, you're doing a good job," Linda says in the video.

Culpepper, who is black, said he wanted to share something positive in the face of all the police shootings of black drivers.

"I was just so encouraged by what she was saying that I was like, 'man, I better capture this on video,'" said Culpepper.

Someone shared it on Facebook and the video skyrocketed. Culpepper says he's gotten calls from BuzzFeed and the New York Post. He's also gotten phone calls from around the country thanking him for being a positive role model.

"Man I was shocked," said Culpepper. "When I saw it I looked and it had 5,000 views, and I was like, 'where'd this come from?'"

The video has been shared many times on Facebook, but one of the first posts has racked up more than 500,000 views.

Meanwhile, adorable Linda has had a birthday, and is now 4 years old.

The Culpeppers have become celebrities at their church in Plano, but they're taking it all in stride.

"I'm just wanting to be a vessel, show the Savior, through my character and through the way that I raise my family," Culpepper said.
