The Democratic National Convention in 2016 will not be Philadelphia’s first time hosting a big political event, but this one will happen less than a year after a visit from Pope Francis and the time for planning is now.
The City of Philadelphia is a hot spot -- this year the pope will visit, next year the DNC.
Philly was chosen as the site of the 2016 Democratic National Convention. As the DNC announced its decision today, the flurry of speculation quickly turned to celebration on social media.
The City of Brotherly Love beat out the competition -- Brooklyn and Columbus. Hosting a political convention is something the city has practice with after hosting the Republican National Convention in 2000.
