Square Feet: Tour a Historic Lamp Factory Turned Loft

Homeowner Rick Edel takes us on a tour of his corner duplex loft in the River North neighborhood, formerly the warehouse district. The 198-unit loft building is surrounded by history. It used to be The Stiffel Lamp Factory, and in 2001, it was renovated to house residential properties. What’s unique about Rick’s unit is that it once was the executive offices of the original building. Rick’s inspiration comes from William Morris and Gustav Stickley, both promoters of the Arts and Crafts movement. Throughout the home, you’ll find furniture pieces of that era.
