NJ Transit Bus Evacuated After Fire: Authorities

An NJ Transit but was evacuated Thursday morning after the rear of the vehicle caught fire in Union County, officials say.

The bus caught fire on North Broad Street and Parker Road in Elizabeth shortly before 11 a.m., according to a spokesman with NJ Transit.

Ten passengers were transferred to another bus and no one was injured, the spokesman said. Firefighters extinguished the flames a few minutes later.

It’s not clear what sparked the blaze.
