New Gene Mutation Tied to Major Breast Cancer Risk

A new study found that mutations in a recently identified gene called PALB2 can make the cancer up to nine times more likely develop and gives a woman a 14 percent chance of breast cancer by age 50, and 35 percent by age 70. Plus women who have close relatives with the disease have an even greater risk. The study was published in this week’s New England Journal of Medicine. Greg Cergol reports.
