Rockdale County Public Schools in Georgia said it's conducting a "full investigation"

The grandmother of a 5-year-old special needs student from Georgia is upset after a paraprofessional allegedly hung the boy from his clothing on a hook above the chalkboard April 28. A Georgia woman said her grandson's teacher made him hang by his belt from the top of a chalkboard as punishment.

Tracy Davis told WSB-TV that on Thursday, the principal at Shoal Creek Elementary School in Conyers found her 5-year-old grandson — who has special needs — hanging from a chalkboard. The principal said the boy was screaming and in distress.

Davis said the state Division of Family and Children Services interviewed the boy and learned this wasn't the first time the teacher had done this. She said the school told her it's disciplining two teachers and a paraprofessional because of the incident.

Rockdale County Public Schools told the news station in a statement that the district "takes all matters of this kind very seriously and is currently conducting a full investigation."
