Elderly Monroe Township Couple Woken Up at Gunpoint, Handcuffed to Chairs During Home Invasion

Two masked suspects assaulted an elderly couple in their Williamstown home.

An elderly woman opened her eyes early Friday morning to find the barrel of a gun staring back at her after masked men broke into the Gloucester County, New Jersey home she and her husband share, police said.

The 63-year-old Williamstown woman and her 65-year-old husband were then beaten, handcuffed to a chair and threatened with the gun and a knife as their house was ransacked, police said.

Monroe Township Police said at least two masked men forced their way into the Herbert Boulevard home through a first-floor bathroom window. They demanded the couple hand over cash, drugs and weapons.

The robbers eventually fled the home and the couple were able to contact police around 7:20 a.m.

Investigators recovered evidence, including surveillance video, from the scene, police said.

Police are asking anyone with information to call 856.728.9800 x239.
