A traffic stop in California led to the arrest of a man on suspicion of possessing nearly 80 pounds of cocaine and a stolen car, police said.
The bust happened Monday when officers stopped a vehicle in the 6900 block of Atlantic Avenue in Long Beach for a traffic violation, police said. The driver appeared nervous, police said. He was also driving without a license, officials said.
A search of the vehicle turned up packaging material, evidence of possible narcotics dealing.
"Officers found this to be highly suspicious," police said in a statement.
Police said a search of the suspect's home turned up:
- About 79 pounds of cocaine valued at up to $3.6 million,
- More than 3 pounds of methamphetamine,
- A pistol and ammunition,
- Over $3,000 in cash,
- A stolen vehicle.
