Alec Baldwin won't shake the political bug until he gets sworn in to some office, somewhere.
The liberal “30 Rock” actor, who has made no secret of his political ambitions in the past, told CNN’s Eliot Spitzer that he’s “very interested” in a run for office.
“It’s something that I’m very, very interested in,” said Baldwin in an interview set to air Wednesday night.
Baldwin, 52, said what he wants to see from elected leaders is “people who have not lost sight about what the middle class in this country is.” And, despite his fame and success, he says that “whatever I’ve accrued in my career doing that, it hasn’t changed me as a person.”
Most recently, Baldwin reportedly considered running for Congress on his native Long Island before saying through his agent that "now is not the time." In 2006, Baldwin told The New York Times what office he would most like to hold.
"If I ever ran for anything, the thing I would like to be is governor of New York," he said. And then, he took a shot at another actor who became a politician.
"That's what I hate about Arnold Schwarzenegger," Baldwin said. "His only credentials are that he ran a fitness program under some bygone president...I'm de Tocqueville compared to Schwarzenegger."
