Reading, Soccer, Army Band and Fireworks on Day 3 of Wawa Welcome America

Wawa Welcome America kicked into high gear with book giveaways and more free movies and fireworks.

The exciting events continued on Day 3 of Wawa Welcome America. Take a look at the highlights.

A week of celebrating America's birthday in Philadelphia continued Monday, with summer camps, reading and playing soccer in West Philadelphia, free museums throughout the city and a night with music and fireworks along the Delaware River.

Day 3 of Wawa Welcome America started at Penn Park on the University of Pennsylvania's campus for more than 300 summer campers from throughout the city for the PECO "Go 4th and Learn" reading and sports event.

Before it got too hot, Coach Sylvester Corbie of West Philadelphia Soccer Academy taught kids some dribbling skills while Sheila Hess, who serves as Mayor Jim Kenney's city representative, read children's books on the nearby grass.

It was also another day of free museums, with the Independence Seaport Museum and Museum of American Revolution participating.

From 2 p.m. through 4 p.m., children enjoyed fun activities, guest readers and book giveaways courtesy of Books in Homes USA at select Free Library of Philadelphia Branches.

Another day of free movies for Wawa Welcome America kicked off at Franklin Field Monday evening. Attendees were given access to Franklin Field, which is celebrating its 125th anniversary this year. The stadium was filled with games and music. After some relay races and trivia, the movie screening began. Guests took to the stands for a free screening of Invincible--parts of which were filmed at Franklin Field.

Finally, hundreds of concert-goers enjoyed a free concert at the Great Plaza at Penn's Landing by the U.S. Army Field Band Monday evening. Musicians and singers played a wide variety of selections from patriotic to fan favorites.

The band debuted “Let Freedom Ring,” a musical and visual celebration to honor Independence Day.

The evening concluded with a fireworks finale choreographed to a soundtrack featuring the Great American Orators as well as quotes from past American presidents.

PECO's Go 4th & Learn event was held Monday at Penn Park.
