Where Is Mark Himebaugh?

20th Anniversary of NJ boy’s disappearance and still no answers

Maureen Himebaugh pleaded for the public to help with any leads to find her son 20 years after he went missing. The Cape May County Prosecutor and Middle Township Police Chief vowed on Tuesday that they are committed to continuing the investigation into the 1991 disappearance of then 11 year old Mark Himebaugh from his South Jersey community.

A sneaker, footprints and vague descriptions of a young girl and two men are among the few clues about what happened to Mark Himebaugh.

The 11-year-old sixth-grader disappeared from his Del Haven, Middle Township neighborhood in Cape May County, N.J. on Nov. 25, 1991.

On Tuesday, Cape May Prosecutor Robert Taylor and Middle Township Police Chief Christopher Leusner held a press conference coinciding with the 20th anniversary of Mark’s disappearance. They pledged to continue with the investigations.

His mother, Maureen Himebaugh, was also at the press conference pleading for the public's help with any clues to help locate her son.

"Our extended family and friends have been robbed of a lot of years of the pleasure of his presence," said Mrs. Himebaugh.

In the years since he vanished, federal, state and local police have conducted a multi-state investigation.

There were unconfirmed reports that Mark was seen with two men the day he went missing. Another report put him at a local park with an unidentified girl. His left sneaker was found less than 100 yards from his house and investigators discovered his footprints, but none of the evidence has ever led to Mark or any conclusion about what happened to him.

"I can hope and I can dream and I really hope that this dream can come true," said Mrs. Himebaugh about her hope that Mark is still alive.
