After a rainy and warm Tuesday we’re in for a big drop in temperatures and possible snow over the weekend. NBC10 First Alert Weather chief meteorologist Tammie Souza has the forecast.
Get ready for a roller-coaster week of weather; first the warm, then the cold. An unseasonably warm day Tuesday, but it won’t last. By the weekend we’ll get a real taste of winter-like cold and even a chance of a wintry mix coming in over the weekend.
Tuesday will be cloudy all day, but thanks to a warm southerly flow, temperatures rise into the low 60s in the afternoon. Rain moving ahead of a cold front will cross the entire area later in the afternoon and night.
The warm temperatures won’t last long, however. A sharp cold front will pass our area early Wednesday morning and temperatures will fall into the 40s with skies clearing in the afternoon.
Wednesday’s cold air will stick around for another 10 to 14 days with highs in the 30s and 40s, well below the average.
By Friday night, we could see snow flurries or light snow showers while a wintry mix of rain and snow is possible later Saturday.
"There is a chance of some flurries Friday evening, maybe even some light snow showers," NBC10 First Alert Weather meteorologist Bill Henley said. "A dusting at the most in the few neighborhoods that will see it. It's not a big storm system for Friday and we may not see any of that Friday."

On Saturday points south and east of Philadelphia could be more likely to see wet weather.
"Late in the day there is a chance we will some showers, rain and snow showers are possible," Bill said. "But if temperatures are above freezing we are not looking into much, in terms of accumulation, if anything."
A chance of flurries early Sunday morning, then conditions will clear with temperatures in the upper 30s.
