Temperatures Falling to Record-Breaking Lows

The brutal cold is back with record-low temperatures in several parts of the area. But how long will the cold last? Sheena has the forecast.

Bundle up. Temperatures are dropping to record-breaking lows throughout the region and the weather will remain cold throughout the week.

Temperatures were in the low 20's and teens for most of the area Monday while wind chill temperatures were in the teens and single digits. A quick band of snow also struck parts of Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware around daybreak Monday.

Amtrak ran a modified scheduled Monday due to the weather. Some Acela Express and Northeast Regional schedules were adjusted between New York City and Boston or Washington, DC. MORE DETAILS HERE.

It will be even colder Tuesday with actual temperatures in the single digits and wind chill temperatures below zero for most of the area due to an arctic cold moving in from the north. The cold is expected to be record-breaking for several parts of the region.
