Man Shoplifting $6 Item Punches New Jersey Walmart Employee in the Face: Police

Police in Ocean County are asking for help identifying a man they say punched a Walmart worker.

A man shoplifting a $6 item punched a Walmart employee in the face when he was confronted as he tried to leave the store in New Jersey, police said.

The assault happened about 8:30 p.m. on June 26 at the Walmart near Route 9 in Lanoka Harbor, Ocean County.

Police say the suspect shoplifted a $6 item and was attempting to leave the store when he was confronted by a Walmart Loss Prevention employee.

The suspect, police say, punched the employee in the face and then ran out of the store and into a nearby wooded area.

He remains on the loose.
