Villanova University Mourns Student Found Dead in Dorm

Villanova University mourned the death of a sophomore College of Liberal Arts & Sciences major found dead in his dorm room over the weekend.

John Flanagan, of Staten Island, New York, was found dead Sunday night in a residence hall, said the university in a letter sent to students and staff Monday morning.

The university didn’t immediately reveal how Flanagan died or in which dorm but they did say there were no signs of foul play. The university said it was cooperating with police investigating the death.

"This is a devastating loss to our community, and our hearts go out to John’s family and friends," said Nova vice president of student life Fr. John Stack in the letter.

NBC10 reached out to the university and also Radnor Township Police for further details. The university referred to Stack’s letter while Radnor police referred NBC10 to university police.

The university made counselor’s available to students. Students needing to talk to someone can call the Counseling Center at 610-519-4050 and/or Campus Ministry at 610-519-4080.
