A tree came crashing through the roof of a South Coventry Township home on Thursday night. Severe winds knocked down the 20-ton tree. Dr. Sharon Kelly tells NBC10’s Jesse Gary that she is just grateful her 12-year-old daughter wasn’t home when the tree destroyed her bedroom.
A local mother is thanking her lucky stars that her daughter wasn't around when a tree came crashing through the roof of her North Coventry Township home and into her daughter's bedroom.
"For a second I was shocked, but then I was just so happy that I just dropped off my daughter," homeowner Sharon Kelly told NBC10's Tim Furlong.
Kelly tells NBC10 that she had just dropped her daughter off at a friend's house for a trip down the shore when she returned to her Chestnut Lane home to find that her 12-year-old daughter Jill's bedroom was destroyed when a 20-ton, 80-foot-tall tree fell.
The grateful mom says that her teenage son was the only one home at the time and that he called her and told her what happened.
"If she had been home, um, yeah...It would have horrible. She lives in her room, she loves her room" Kelly said.
The tree also damaged the laundry room below the bedroom.
A worker from Real Tree Service, the company hired to clean up the tree, told NBC10's Jesse Gary it's the biggest job he's ever had to do.
No one was injured in the incident.
