A woman told police she woke up to an armed robber wearing a scary mask inside her bedroom. The man then tied her up and stole her ATM card, radio and vehicle, police said. NBC10’s Drew Smith is in Tredyffrin Township with the story.
Police are searching for a man who they say tied a woman up and stole her ATM card as well as her vehicle while wearing a Halloween mask over the weekend.
The woman told police she was sleeping inside her home on the 100 block of Crestline Road in the Strafford section of Tredyffrin Township shortly before 1 a.m. Saturday. Suddenly the woman woke up and saw an unidentified man in a Halloween mask standing at the foot of her bed, police said.
The robber tied the woman up with duct tape and told her, “Be quiet and you won’t be hurt,” according to investigators. He then allegedly ransacked the woman’s home, finding her ATM card as well as the keys to her vehicle. The woman told police the robber took out a stun gun and forced her to provide the PIN number to her bank card. He then took jewelry and a radio from the home before fleeing in the woman’s vehicle, police said. The suspect drove to a Wells Fargo ATM at the Devon Square Shopping Center less than half a mile away from the woman’s home and used her ATM card, according to investigators. Police released a surveillance photo of the suspect at the ATM.
The woman said she managed to free herself from the duct tape and called 911. Police later found the woman’s unoccupied vehicle at the Strafford Train Station. The suspect is still on the loose however.
The suspect is described as a man standing 5-foot-10 and weighing 180 pounds with broad shoulders. He was also wearing a Halloween mask with a bulbous nose and gloves.
