Big Rig Slams Into House

Two people were rushed to the hospital after a tractor trailer crashed into a home at Levick and Farnsworth streets in Philadelphia’s Mayfair neighborhood around 7:00PM Thursday night. Police tell NBC10 an SUV ran a red light, hit the tractor trailer, and caused it to smash into the rowhome. NBC10’s Nefertiti Jaquez spoke to the homeowner and witnesses.

A chain reaction crash started when an SUV ran a red light and ended when a tractor-trailer slammed into a home in Northeast Philadelphia Thursday night.

A gray Ford Expedition disregarded the traffic signal as it turned right onto Levick Street from Farnsworth Street in the city's Mayfair section around 7:15 p.m., according to police.

The SUV slammed into a big rig, which was heading westbound on Levick Street, officials said.

The force of the collision drove the truck across the intersection and into a house located at the corner of Levick and Farnsworth streets.

Luckily no one was home at the time of the crash. Both drivers were transported to Aria-Torresdale Hospital with undisclosed injuries.
