Ex-School Counselor Who Tried to Seduce Teen Boy Gets Probation

Emily Feeney, a former swim coach and guidance counselor at Malvern Prep on the Main Line, pleaded guilty to trying to seduce a student in turn for an Ivy League education.

A female former prep school counselor has been sentenced to five years of probation for romantically pursuing a 16-year-old boy in suburban Philadelphia.

The Philadelphia Inquirer reports that 41-year-old Emily Feeney of Wayne apologized Monday in Chester County Court, calling her behavior "a huge mistake and unlawful." She was ordered to register as a sex offender under Megan's Law for 15 years.

Prosecutors say the former Malvern Prep director of college counseling and swim coach kissed the boy, sent him inappropriate emails and photos, and promised him admission to an elite college.

She pleaded guilty to misdemeanor counts of corruption of minors and indecent assault. Defense attorney Thomas Bergstrom called for "balance" in the case, saying his client's conduct was inappropriate and unlawful but also involved "a single kiss."
