Stretch of Kensington Avenue to close Wednesday in effort to remove sidewalk encampments

Mayor Cherelle Parker’s administration wants to clear people from the sidewalks in Kensington with their 30-day encampment resolution plan that ends on Wednesday, May 8. On that day city outreach teams will be telling people they have to remove their tents and structures from the sidewalks. A road closure will be in place from East Orleans Street to Allegheny Avenue on Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. During the closure, drivers will be detoured to Frankford Avenue and other nearby streets.
