A Pennsylvania man who authorities say caused a crash that killed a 93-year-old man last year is facing only citations because prosecutors say he fell asleep behind the wheel.
Prosecutors on Monday mailed a careless driving citation to 24-year-old Jerome Sterling in last December's crash that killed John Colangecco.
Authorities say Sterling fell asleep at the wheel, went through a red light and hit the car being driven by Colangecco's son head-on.
Randolph Colangecco tells The Morning Call of Allentown prosecutors informed him Sterling wouldn't face more severe charges because sleep apnea had caused him to nod off as he drove.
A phone listing for Sterling could not immediately be located Tuesday.
Randolph Colangecco says he's not happy with the district attorney's decision but is glad the process is over.
