Gunman Shoots Mom Carrying Baby, 2 Others in Philadelphia

Three people, including a woman who was holding her baby, were shot in the Point Breeze section of the city Monday night. All three victims are expected to survive and the baby was not harmed.

A gunman shot a man and two women, including a mother who was carrying her baby, in Philadelphia late Monday afternoon.

Police say a 32-year-old woman whose 10-month-old son was strapped to her, a 61-year-old woman and a 40-year-old man were all on 18th and Wharton streets around 4:30 p.m. Monday when a gunman opened fire.

The 32-year-old woman was struck in the leg, the 61-year-old woman several times in the right leg and the 40-year-old man in the left leg. The 10-month-old baby was not injured during the shooting. All three victims were taken to Presbyterian Hospital. The 32-year-old woman and 40-year-old man were both treated and released. The 61-year-old woman is currently in stable condition.

Police say the gunman fired at least 17 shots from a semiautomatic weapon. They're unsure whether or not the three victims were intended targets.

Police also say a 32-year-old man suffering from a broken toe was spotted running from the scene after the shooting. The man had a weapon in his possession and was taken into custody for questioning, according to investigators. No charges have been filed however.
