Seventh-Annual ‘Peeps Chick Drop' Rings in New Year in Lehigh Valley

Hundreds gathered in Bethlehem, Northampton County for the Peeps Chick drop where an 85 pound chick helped ring in the New Year.

A Lehigh Valley town will ring in the New Year Thursday afternoon by dropping a giant marshmallow chick like Times Square's New Year's Ball.

The 4.5-foot tall, 85-pound marshmallow Peeps candy will drop at 5:15 p.m. as part of "Peepsfest" in Bethlehem. This year is the seventh-annual "Peeps Chick Drop" in the town, where the sugary candies are made.

The Peeps Drop marks the end of the two-day Peepsfest, celebrated in Bethlehem at the end of every year.
