Tens of Thousands Race in Blue Cross Broad Street Run

Tens of thousands of runners took part in the annual event, including members of the NBC10 team.

Ten of thousands of runners took their place Sunday for the start of the Blue Cross Broad Street Run. A lot of people who ran today did so to raise money for someone in need. NBC10’s Denise Nakano has the highlights of the run.

Dominic Korir and Askale Merachi were the men's and women's winners of Sunday's 38th Broad Street Run in Philadelphia.

Askale Merachi of Ethopia took first place for women in the 2017 Broad Street Run.

Korir finished the 10-mile course with an unofficial time of 47 minutes and 38 seconds, in a photo finish with Philip Mburu, who crossed the finish line a second later.

First place finisher Dominic Korir of Kenya crosses the finish line.

Merachi finished the course with an unofficial time of 53:49, coming in 19 seconds ahead of Serena Burka.
