Prison Inmate Charged With Killing Fellow Inmate

A prison inmate has been charged with criminal homicide in the death of a fellow inmate during a fight, the second such fatality at the northwestern Pennsylvania prison this year.

State police in Erie County charged 24-year-old Anthony Scholl Jr. in the October death of 51-year-old Theodore Sherlock at the State Correctional Institution at Albion.

Authorities allege that Scholl severely beat the victim Oct. 22 in the cell they shared. Sherlock was removed from life support several days later and died. An autopsy concluded that he died of complications from blunt force trauma to the head.

Scholl's defense attorney didn't immediately return a call seeking comment Wednesday.

Another inmate, 26-year-old Trevon Coleman, was ordered to stand trial last month in the death of 33-year-old fellow inmate Job Knighton in February.
