Philadelphia police said that two people appeared to have thrown a man into an SUV and pulled off in Northeast Philadelphia early Friday. NBC0’s Brenna Weick reports on the investigation.

Philadelphia police are searching for a man in reference to the abduction of Wey Um, an Asian man in his 40s who was taken on March 31 while walking home from work.

The man police are searching for is believed to have robbed the victim on the 5900 block Oxford Avenue on March 6. The robbery was unreported but had been captured on video surveillance, police said.

The suspect is thought to be in his late teens to early 20s and was wearing a black ski mask, black Adidas hooded sweatshirt, black sweatpants, white socks, black, royal blue, and white running sneakers, and is armed with a black semi-automatic handgun. Police released a picture of this suspect.

On March 31, police blocked off a street before daybreak after they say a man walking home from work appeared to be forced into an SUV overnight.

The scene played out along East Godfrey Avenue, near Summerdale Avenue, in the Summerdale section of Northeast Philadelphia around 2:10 a.m., police said.

Witnesses told police that a black SUV, possibly a newer model Ford Explorer, pulled up next to the victim as he walked home from work, investigators said.

Two men then "exited the vehicle and then forced the victim inside the vehicle, point of gun."

The SUV then drove off eastbound on Godfrey Ave. Police released a photo of the vehicle.
