People who don't feel like driving into rural northwestern Pennsylvania to see wild elk can see them online for the first time.
The Pennsylvania Game Commission has installed an elk cam on State Game Lands 311, near Benezette Township. That's about 120 miles northeast of Pittsburgh.
Video and audio are being streamed live on the game commission's website. Audio is included because nature lovers like to spy on the elk during bugling season, when bull elk let out loud mating calls.
Bugling season typically runs from early September through mid-October.
The elk cam is provided by HDOnTap, a company that has also provided live video from a bald eagle's nest in Hanover, as well as video from osprey and bluebird nests round the state in past years.
