PennDOT's “New Weapons” to Battle Winter Weather

They may look like something out of a Transformers movie, but they are PennDOT’s new “weapons” to battle inclement winter weather. The first is a tow-plow, a 30 foot long tow behind snow plow that can clear a width of 27 feet — or two traffic lanes. The second is a snow blower that is capable of moving up to 1,200 tons of snow every hour. The third is one pull behind tanker trailer, which holds 2,600 gallons of salt and can spray the salt into 3 lanes at one time.
