Christmas Village in Philadelphia to Return to Love Park in 2017

The all new Love Park is almost ready for its debut. Philadelphia’s famous landmark will host the annual Christmas Village, again, this year. Starting on Thanksgiving, the park reopens to the public for the first time since its renovations.

The popular Christmas Village in Philadelphia will return to Love Park this year, becoming the first event held at the park since its multimillion dollar renovation and upgrade.

The announcement is significant for both the annual holiday event and the Center City public space. The traditional, open-air German Christmas market is marking its 10th anniversary. And this will be the first time Love Park, which has been undergoing a delayed, $16.5 million renovation and upgrade, will be open to the public since construction began. A formal reopening ceremony is expected to take place in the spring, city officials said.

The ninth iteration of Christmas Village in Philadelphia moved to City Hall, which vendors said did not hurt business. The 2nd annual Made in Philadelphia Holiday Market was also held at City Hall.

Christmas Village this year will be open from Thanksgiving, Nov. 23, through Christmas Eve, Dec. 24. The official opening ceremony will be held Nov. 26.
