Uncapped Fire Hydrant Causes Traffic Trouble at South Philadelphia Interchange

A broken fire hydrant caused traffic delays at 25th & Passyunk in South Philadelphia Tuesday morning.

A cap broke off a fire hydrant causing water to spill onto a roadway near the entrance to the Schuylkill Expressway (I-76) in South Philadelphia Tuesday morning.

The break occurred around 5:45 a.m. along the 2500 block of Passyunk Avenue near the I-76 overpass.

The standing water blocked some lanes of traffic but cars seemed to be just squeezing by under the 25th Street rail bridge.

No word yet on when the water will be stopped. Expect traffic troubles in the area.
