Parking Issues in Wilmington

AAA Mid-Atlantic has reviewed separate internal audits on the city of Wilmington’s parking meter programs and ticket appeals process, and has issued recommendations for parking reforms. Media outlets report that AAA obtained the inspections from 2014 and 2015 in response to motorists’ concerns about parking issues within Wilmington. AAA reviewed the city’s internal audit on parking meters from October 2015 and noted a considerable lack of oversight. AAA Mid-Atlantic spokesman Ken Grant says the review found several examples of waste and mismanagement. Grant says the city is also behind advances in parking meter technology. An audit from August 2014 of civil appeals operations found the average time needed for a parking violation to be resolved was 404 days. AAA has proposed several solutions to the city of Wilmington, including creating a more transparent appeals process.
