The Flyers Skate Zone in Northeast Philadelphia is offering a cool way for people to beat the heat Sunday afternoon.
From 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., there will be a free public skate at the ice rink, located at Comly and Decatur roads.
An excessive heat warning went into effect at noon as some of the hottest temperatures of the summer crept into the region on Sunday. The heat index is reaching into the triple digits.
