Temple University Alerts Students After Gunfire Near Campus

Gunfire erupted overnight on Temple University’s campus in North Philadelphia. The window of a student housing building was shattered by a bullet, but police say no one was injured.

Temple University alerted students after gunfire rang out near campus overnight.

“Shots fired in the vicinity of Cecil B Moore and 11th Streets. Window shattered on the south side of View Apartments. No Injuries. Police have responded,” read the TUalert message sent out around 1:35 a.m. Tuesday.

The apartments where the gunfire occurred sit about one block from the eastern side of the North Philadelphia campus, across the street from Columbia Field.

No word yet on the circumstances behind the shooting and no word on any arrests.
