A cross-state police chase ended with a New Jersey State Trooper shooting and wounding a suspect outside an Ocean County home early Wednesday.
State Police Lt. Stephen Jones says Michael Zaun, 30, of Delanco is being treated for serious, but non-life-threatening injuries at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune after he was shot.
The state Attorney's General's Office sent out a press release Wednesday afternoon saying that they were investigating the circumstances in the case and had some preliminary information.
Authorities say the chase began when a trooper attempted to stop Zaun, who was driving a white Nissan Pathfinder, for failing to stop along Route 29 in West Trenton around 12:30 a.m.
The A.G.'s office says that a preliminary investigation shows that dash cam video from one of the cop cars shows Zaun firing a gun at troopers out of the sunroof of his SUV as troopers pursued the vehicle across Interstate 195.
Three troopers in two cruisers continued the pursuit, A.G.'s office says.
Jones says Zaun went south on the Garden State Parkway before finally pulling his vehicle onto a lawn and running to the front door of a house on Carolina Avenue in Brick Township. Jones says a trooper opened fire after Zaun disregarded commands.

One trooper fired twice, hitting Zaun in the arm and upper body, according to the A.G.
No troopers were hurt.
Detectives say Zaun's vehicle was involved in a pursuit earlier in Bucks County, Pa.
As of 1 p.m. a search warrant had yet to be executed on Zaun's SUV and no charges were filed, authorities said.
