Neighbor Rescues Elderly Woman from Fire

A West Philadelphia man says when he saw smoke pouring from a neighbor's home he knew he had to get inside

A neighbor ran into a burning West Philadelphia home on Monday evening and pulled an elderly woman to safety, according to Philadelphia Firefighters.

Robert Williams told NBC10 he was walking down the 400 block of North Redfield street when he saw smoke pouring from the house.

Williams said he ran inside and saw the woman, who is in her 70's, trying to sit down in a chair. He says he grabbed her and got her out of the house.

The woman was taken to the hospital and is listed in critical but stable condition.

Investigators say it looks like a malfunctioning oxygen machine on the second floor started the fire.
