Kenney Blasts City Controller

Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney discusses his record as he starts his fourth year in office. Kenney says he will definitely run for reelection. The last year, however, has been one of the deadliest in Philadelphia’s recent history, with the city’s police commissioner attributing homicides largely to the opioid crisis gripping the streets. Kenney says the city is decreasing the number of guns on the street, increasing the number of officers and investing in violence prevention programs, but contends that the homicide rate has been fluctuating for some time. The mayor also goes on to criticize the city’s controller for her audit saying that Philadelphia has one of the worst bookkeeping practices in the country.
