Middle School Student Dies After Collapsing During Gym Class

Students at two local schools are grieving the loss of two classmates that died after falling ill at school.

Police are investigating the death of a student at a middle school in Burlington County, New Jersey.

Officials say the eighth-grade student from the Harrington Middle School in Mount Laurel died Wednesday afternoon.

According to investigators, the student, who has not yet been identified, collapsed during a physical education class at Harrington.

The school’s crisis team, Mount Laurel Police as well as Emergency Medical Technicians immediately responded and the student was taken to the hospital. He was pronounced dead a short time later.

School officials have not released any further information. Mount Laurel Police officers are handling the investigation.
