Stolen SUV Crashes, Kills Man in Wheelchair

Police say a stolen SUV crashed in Philadelphia’s Port Richmond neighborhood and killed a man in a wheelchair.

Suspects in a stolen SUV crash in Philadelphia's Port Richmond section on Saturday night, killing a man in a wheelchair and injuring a young girl, police said.

Investigators said the stolen Cadillac Escalade plowed into two other cars and the 38-year-old man while being followed by police.

Officers said they heard the crash near Castor and Aramingo avenues shortly before 9:30 p.m.

The victim in the wheelchair, who was panhandling along Castor Avenue at the time, was rushed to Temple University Hospital where he later died, police said.

A woman and an 11-year-old girl in one of the cars were hurt, but expected to be okay, according to Philadelphia Police Inspector D F Pace.

Police said four people got out of the stolen vehicle and ran off, but one, a 19-year-old, was arrested and faces several charges.

Police were still searching for the other three as of Sunday afternoon.

Officers found three guns inside the SUV, Pace said.
