Armed Man Barricades Himself Inside Row Home After Attempted Rape

An armed man slipped to police that he was barricading himself inside his own home early Monday morning. After learning new developments in the case, Jesse Gary reports from Philadelphia’s Holmesburg neighborhood.

A woman is safe in police custody after escaping an attempted rape at the hands of her armed ex-boyfriend inside a home in the Holmesburg section of the city early this morning.

The 57-year-old man is still inside, refusing to come out.

SWAT is on the 7900 block of Marsden Avenue where that man has barricaded himself inside his home after he allegedly tried to rape his ex-girlfriend while holding a gun to her head. 

Police say that the incident began around 2:50 a.m. when the woman arrived at the man's house after he called and asked her to come over.

The victim was able to escape run to a neighbor's house where she called 911. 

Officials have shut down the entire block in an effort to keep the publc safe while they try to coax the armed suspect out of the house.
