These Karen women waited upwards of 10 years in refugee camps before resettling in Philadelphia. They left behind war and genocide in their native Burma and fled to neighboring Thailand. Now, they’re learning English and preparing to become citizens at a small South Philly social services center, Southeast by Southeast.
